Lots of life to post

#4- Derek and I went to Suntrust yesterday to talk to someone about the whole house buying process. We just went for information so we aren't clueless when we're ready. The guy who we talked to was very helpful, and gave us a lot of great advice. Once I get a job, we're definitely going to get this whole party started.

#3- I am finally seeing results from my laser hair removal (Apparently I was confused when the lady told me about the time line). The hair grew very slowly and not too long and now it is falling out, and there is very little left. I asked the lady at the office again, and she said that once its completely out it'll stay gone until 2-3 weeks before my next appointment. SWEET!!

#2- I got my certification in the mail the other day. It was very exciting and confusing. Exciting for obvious reasons, but confusing because I'm not technically supposed to have it yet. You see, the state has no interest in giving certifications to criminals or sex offenders, so they require you to be HIRED by a school and fingerprinted in order to get your actual certification. All I was supposed to get was a "Statement of Status Eligibility" until I got hired. I even asked if getting fingerprinted for my internship and substituting would count (because they won't fingerprint me again anyways), and I was told no. So I'm not sure whats going on. I'm thinking maybe since I applied to the county and they had my fingerprints already on file for subbing and whatnot they went ahead and sent them to the certification board thinking it would speed up the process if they did hire me. I hear that they do things like that. I just never heard of someone getting their certification without having a job... its strange.

And now, the reason for the picture and in a slight relation to #2...

#1- I've been thinking a lot about my future work situation, and here are some things I've considered.
(1) If I get a job teaching before school starts and the school I end up at has a lower than expected enrollment, I am the first to go. My job won't be completely secure until about 3 months into school.
(2) If I get a teaching job this year and manage to keep it, the situation won't be any better next year (both Orange and Seminole counties have already pushed some of the lost $$ aside for the following year... and who says by then the economy will be magically better), and I may end up losing my job then and not have all the opportunities that I do now.

With those facts in consideration, I have decided that it is not in my best interest to continue searching for a teaching job. And in light of new information, I now believe that working at the neurologist's office will be my best bet (I recently discovered that I have the potential to make more than enough to pay for my masters and then some). So tomorrow I will tell Nick and Birdie, shown in the picture, that I am ready to accept their offer and work for them starting in August. It was a bit of a hard decision to give up the dream, but right now I need to think about what is going to best for Derek and I financially, and with the lack of job security in teaching right now, its best that I put the dream on hold for now.

And thats this week's top 4.
